End of the Rainbow

Helicopters are like rainbows, but at the end of many helicopter arcs is something bad. I was once drawn to photojournalism. Like any onlooker, I am curious, using the camera as my shield.

Camera Rig Config

One step farther down the camera line. The HF100 will suffice until the RED Scarlet shows up. Still getting familiar with the menu controls while testing different microphones. Saturday's shoot in Malibu was done with LUMIX and Kodak V1253 pocket cameras.

Tangents

A red Toyota triplet. I've noticed how cars in parking lots tend to gravitate together, and this is a good example. I believe it's unconscious. Maybe it happens more often when people work in the same building and develop patterns after a period of time.

Into the Breech

Once more into the breech with lances drawn and heavy cape. Mustard coats and velvet ropes to take it down, take it out.

Shadows

In the thick and thin of tides, across rocks, windows, trees, brandishing the shine of everlasting.

The Far End

You may be surprised at what bright sunlight hides at the far end of the park.

Pistols In The Morning

Héliographie

Joseph Nicephore Niepce

The world's first permanent camera image shows the view from Niepce's second floor window in 1826. It is a bitumen image on pewter, showing only masses of light and dark tones. The exposure supposedly took about eight hours.

Pale Blue Dot

The photo above was taken by Voyager 1 in 1990 as it sailed away from Earth, more than 4 billion miles in the distance.

Mystery Skeleton On Ice

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Marine scientists in Canada and abroad are puzzled by bizarre photographs that appear to show the skeleton of a large mammal jutting out of an iceberg that recently drifted past Newfoundland's east coast.

That's as definitive as federal Fisheries and Oceans research scientist Gary Stenson can be about the photos. He has no DNA sample.

"It looks like a mammal," he said.

If it was prehistoric creature, Stenson says it may have fallen into a crevasse and froze.
