RE:Thinking

A monkey on YouTube showed me that I've been peeling bananas all wrong for at least twenty years. It struck me the other day that I never liked the traditional way of cutting an apple, and that I could do it any way I wanted.

Hallows

Sheltered screaming of suburban lawns.

Yes Yes Yes

I can't say as I understand. Every phone in every pocket can take pictures, video, sound. I didn't count the number of video cameras in this facility. All this for a taco stand in a crappy part of Burbank.

Sack O' Crap

Chances are you don't know anyone who would send money away for a Sack-O-Crap. Now you do. It was so worth it. Many thanks to the lovely and talented April Winchell.

All Around Us

Driving home from work. No one seemed to notice this. I wonder what I haven't been noticing from my well-worn path.

Signs

They are there. Here's a picture of one. There is a homeless woman who lives off and on in the park. A man once was yelling at her calling her "Maddie" and this drawing looks a bit like her. She kept rabbits in a hidden part of the park until they started a construction project. Whenever anyone got close to them she would stand and stare intently. I never saw her confront anyone, even when her well-hidden rabbits were about to be discovered.

Sasquatch • Yeti • Bigfoot

Renson Whistlestick said that we all have a Sasquatch in each of our lives, and that we may not take him seriously, but we should.

End of the Rainbow

Helicopters are like rainbows, but at the end of many helicopter arcs is something bad. I was once drawn to photojournalism. Like any onlooker, I am curious, using the camera as my shield.

Yes you do!

Ogres take many shapes, but not all of them are this obvious. Watch out for that Rolet.

Camera Rig Config

One step farther down the camera line. The HF100 will suffice until the RED Scarlet shows up. Still getting familiar with the menu controls while testing different microphones. Saturday's shoot in Malibu was done with LUMIX and Kodak V1253 pocket cameras.

Tangents

A red Toyota triplet. I've noticed how cars in parking lots tend to gravitate together, and this is a good example. I believe it's unconscious. Maybe it happens more often when people work in the same building and develop patterns after a period of time.

Into the Breech

Once more into the breech with lances drawn and heavy cape. Mustard coats and velvet ropes to take it down, take it out.

Shadows

In the thick and thin of tides, across rocks, windows, trees, brandishing the shine of everlasting.

The Far End

You may be surprised at what bright sunlight hides at the far end of the park.

Burninating

The smell of toxastic, the smell of burnition. Smelling wastrells near the Metro station in North Hollywood, California just after 9 am, January 7, 2008.

Pistols In The Morning

Schools on both sides of the street. "Passenger! Get out on the driver's side!" The passenger was a woman talking on a cell phone. Six guns drawn. North Hollywood.

Los Angeles

L.A. is the apocalypse: it's you and a bunch of parking lots. No one's going to save you; no one's looking out for you. It's the only city I know where that's the explicit premise of living there – that's the deal you make when you move to L.A.

Bagoomp

I found this picture on the intertubes. I would like to have a drink and hang out with these gals. I don't mean to brag, but I can make a face or two that can scare children, but not like that. Brilliant.

Signs

Signs are all around us. Most are clear, however, some require some interpretation. What does it mean when your morning walk starts with a safe on the lawn?
